Whatever you take as transportation vehicles in India, let it be your own adventure. I found incredible thing when I was in at Dharamsala such as Rhesus Macaques (Macaca mulatta) (CITES: Appendix II) and Kashmir Grey Langur (Semnopithecus ajax) (IUCN : Endangered) sprawling on the street. You can even see details in every corner of buses or taxi like colourful offerings for gods/goddess and holy man pendant anytime and anywhere. Continue reading “India: Dharamsala on the Street | Dharamsala di Jalanan”

Image

Every single sunset in Dharamsala and Mcleod Ganj  is a new beginning and beautiful respectively despite wires all over the place :D. Just before dark you can see lots of eagles flying around the sky and I mean LOTS!! Didn’t bring my binoculars that time but I will when I am back again there.

Gyuto Yellow Monastery | Biara Gyuto Kuning

DSCF8604

If you want a quite monastery in Dharamsala and of course taking pictures then go to Gyuto Monastery. Because there is no single chances for me taking pictures inside Dalai Lama Monastery (it’s forbidden!). I found that Gyuto with all yellow buildings are similar with Pesantren (Islamic boarding school) in Java. You also can find normal life of Buddhist monks, young and old here. There is also huge butter lamp here to commemerate brave martyrs in Tibet who have self-immolated for the greater cause of Tibet since 2009. These including Panchen Lama, the highest ranking Lama after the Dalai Lama, who already long disappeared.Continue reading “Gyuto Yellow Monastery | Biara Gyuto Kuning”

First time in Dharamsala after Agra, I have been amazed by Dalai Lama Monastery which located just on the slope of Himalayan Ice Mountain. The next thing, most landscape are mysterious and mesmerizing. The Red Agra | Sang Agra Merah

India: The White Agra | Sang Agra Putih

I don’t know why took so long to post all pictures from my India trip but hopefully I stop behave like this. India is such beautiful countries and it was so contemplative during the trip especially when I was in Taj Mahal. It is the most beautiful place in the world so far outside Indonesia for me.

I am so confused how to put all these Agra pictures because it’s all beautiful so I made a photo gallery instead. It must be pretty much boring to see everybody took Taj Mahal pictures from the same angles but anyway I put again that boring angle in one of my picture again here :D Continue reading “India: The White Agra | Sang Agra Putih”

India: Sarnath, The First Sermon from Buddha

DSCF8322

I never know if never been into Varanasi. Around an hour from Varanasi there is small town called Sarnath where Siddhartha Gautama had his first sermon to the world. After a night in Varanasi and visiting The Ganges, we think it would be great idea to visit this historical place. In this very small city, we can see a beautiful remnant of Buddhist temple. Next to this one, there is Architectural Museum where the first Indian gold stamp lion with three heads was placed. However, it is not great time for us and it was closed that time. Instead we visited another interesting garden full with murals of Buddha life.

India: Varanasi, The Holy City

Image

This is my first post on India and it’s all about Varanasi. My short comments for this city it is very mystical. You will never regret if you go to India even if you tell stories on India  after time you will it very mesmerizing. Varanasi is one the holy city especially for Hindu people. You will find life and death here. You will see it enhanced with its quiet Ganges. Reminds me of Barito River in Kalimantan but it just full with decomposed and rotten things. You will amazed how much people bathed and drink its water. How Indian praises Ganges River more than ever. Sometimes you find it still very touristy. Oh well despite everything said by other people, it is always good to see different culture and unique landscape like the Ganges. Actually I made this posting while I am in travelling through Central Kalimantan. I hope I can make another post after this one for sure. Continue reading “India: Varanasi, The Holy City”

Why The World Needs Religions to Save Our Earth?

“The World does need religion perspective and view to reduce our destructive behaviour to Mother Earth,”

We are facing with the edge of biological collapse with species extinctions, rapid land-use changes, climate change and pollutions. At the same time evolution in biological sciences and biotechnology are tremendously rapid and often ethically arguable. However for some reasons, environmental ethics in day-to-day can be shown in perspectives or beliefs of each human beings. This perspectives or beliefs can be derived from the world’s major religions (Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity, and Islam). Here I try to summarize comparison and contrast different systems of environmental ethics from these foremost religions. Furthermore, why do we need religion to protect the beauty of Earth and of its prodigious variety of life forms.Continue reading “Why The World Needs Religions to Save Our Earth?”

Sustainable Development: In Perspectives of Humanity

Different sustainable development perceptions in developing countries may obscure the main goal of sustainable development. In turn, Sustainable development become radical and rigid to any improvement effort.

Concept of Sustainable Development

The Norwegian Prime Minister, Gro Harlem Brundtland coined ’sustainable development’ term in the 1987 World Conference on the Changing Atmosphere, which along with economic growth and environmental protection go hand-in-hand around the world. As a result international environmental cooperation is necessary needed for better future. Yet, Brundtland suggest in her report entitled Our Common Future that creating separately existing environmental institutions is not enough, because environmental issues are an integral part of all development policies. They are crucial economic considerations and sector policies and should be integrated as part of energy decisions, social issues, and other aspects of development project. Nevertheless, there are conceptual overgeneralisation (IUCN, 2006), overemphasized (Langhelle,1999), and overuse (Temple, 1992) as well as different perception in the terms of sustainable development (Wikipedia, 2009; IUCN, 2006; Kates et al., 2005).Continue reading “Sustainable Development: In Perspectives of Humanity”

I travelled across Singapore and India as part of my ‘holiday’ after Yunnan last October. It was my third time in Singapore and like it as usual. It was great to see all beautiful buildings and magnificent human-made-landscapes. Most these photos below are Singapore Flyer and Garden of The Bay (it was great to visit as well).Continue reading “Singapore: Buildings”
